UTILIZING TECHNOLOGY FOR EDUCATION: EXPLORING INNOVATIVE WAYS IN EDUCATION TO BRIDGE THE DIGITAL DIVIDE IN UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper examines the integration of technology in Nigeria's education system, focusing on bridging the digital divide, gender concerns in technology integration in education and providing access to technology in underserved communities. Nigeria faces significant disparities in access to technology, exacerbated by socio-economic inequalities. However, there are immense opportunities to leverage technology to address educational gaps, enhance learning outcomes, and foster inclusive access. Challenges include the digital divide, infrastructure constraints, limited funding, digital literacy gaps, teacher training needs, content relevance issues, cybersecurity concerns, maintenance challenges, and policy and regulatory complexities. Addressing these requires comprehensive strategies and collaborative efforts from policymakers, educators, technology providers, and stakeholders. The paper also highlights the transformative potential of technology in education, such as mobile learning, online platforms, digital libraries, and interactive tools, which can enhance teaching experiences, personalize instruction, facilitate collaboration, and improve educational outcomes. Initiatives like community technology centers, public-private partnerships, and government-led infrastructure projects also hold promise for expanding digital access and promoting digital inclusion.
