Abstract

The aim of this article is to examine the challenges preventing the adoption of new technologies on construction planning and scheduling in Abuja, Nigeria. The study employed quantitative research design and data were collected through questionnaire distribution. The study adopted simple random sampling technique and SPSS software version 22 was used for data analysis and the results were presented in tables. The study revealed that the average mean of 3.1359 indicates that the respondents unanimously agreed that using new technologies for planning and scheduling in construction projects has enormous challenges. It can be concluded that most of construction professionals do not embrace and are not exposed with the current technology to improve their planning and business activities while serving their clients and with this view of technology awareness and adoption among construction professional in the study area. Challenges such as initial investment costs, lack of awareness, and resistance to change still exist and need to be addressed to facilitate widespread adoption.
