THE ISRAEL-GAZA-LEBANON CONFLICT: AFRICAN PERSPECTIVE
Main Article Content
Abstract
The Israel-Gaza-Lebanon conflict, a pivotal matter in Middle Eastern geopolitics, also reverberates throughout African discourse due to religious, historical, political, and humanitarian factors. The persistent bloodshed and political strife have profoundly affected regional stability, humanitarian situations, and international relations. Although this conflict mostly involves Israel, Hamas in Gaza, and Hezbollah in Lebanon, however the involvement of regional entities like Iran and global powers such as the United States has exacerbated the complexities of the situation. With the Middle Eastern conflict reverberating throughout Africa, especially over solidarity with Palestinian rights, the diplomatic efforts of the African Union (AU), and the overarching consequences for regional stability among African nations. The aim of the study is to examine the African viewpoint on the Israel-Gaza-Lebanon conflict through an analysis of political, humanitarian, and diplomatic reactions throughout the continent and to evaluate the wider implications of the conflict for African diplomacy and development. This study will employ a qualitative approach, utilising content analysis, case studies, and discourse analysis. Secondary sources, such as African Union resolutions, declarations from African nations, and reports from regional organisations, will be analysed. The study will examine the influence of civil society through media portrayals, demonstrations, and lobbying for Palestinian rights.
