EFFECT OF PROCUREMENT PLANNING ON PROCUREMENT COST IN PLATEAU STATE, NIGERIA

Abstract
Procurement planning is an aspect of procurement process in a typical procurement of goods. Effect of ethical procurement planning on procurement cost in plateau state universal basic education (PSUBEB) forms the topic of this paper. This study identified the problem of procurement process, such as, procurement planning. The study also examined each effect of procurement planning on procurement cost of SUBEB projects within Plateau State of Nigeria. This study employed a survey design that is cross-sectional. For purpose of achieving the objective of the study, a research questionnaire was adapted and administered to a sample of 303, of which 285 respondents filled the questionnaire, and provided a response rate of 94.06 %, which is considered adequate and was used for data analysis. A Stratified Random sampling technique was applied and the data collected were analysed using PLS-SEM. Smart PLS application software package v.4.0. The findings showed that procurement planning has significant relationship with procurement cost. The study recommended that procurement planning needs to be robust so as to provide blockade against any possible inflated procurement cost by fraud perpetrators.
