Abstract

No doubt, a call for the criminalization of immoral conducts on the campuses of the tertiary institutions in Nigeria will elicit controversial and diverse opinions in our society. This is because immorality as a concept is a controversial and trending issue in our society and most especially on our campuses. This paper was provoked by a sense of disapproval for the increasing cases of immoral conducts on our campuses and the seeming inability of the mechanisms put in place to check the ugly trends and the perceived danger which are consequences of the trending immoral activities/conducts, especially of youths on the campuses of tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The paper identified a number of conducts that may be regarded as immoral, the negative consequences they portend for the youth and national development and proffer a number of solutions to the problems, majorly, criminalizing immoral conducts with adequate sanctions to serve as deterrent to would-be recalcitrant elements and thereby preserve the society from decay, violence and disruptions of progress which are the consequences of unchecked immoral conducts by the youths on our campuses.
