ASSESSMENT OF THE FACTORS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RE-EMERGENCE OF CRIMES FOUGHT BY 1804 JIHAD LEADERS IN BAUCHI STATE

Abstract
The research is aimed at finding various factors responsible for the Re-emergence of crimes fought by the Jihad leaders of 1804 in Bauchi State. In doing so the researcher attempted to provide brief account of 1804 Jihad, the crimes fought by the Jihad leaders of 1804. Indeed, despite these tremendous efforts made by the Jihad leaders of 1804, it has been clearly observed that, the crimes synonymous with the crimes fought by the Jihad leaders of 1804 continue to re-emerge in high rate. As such the research used questionnaire method in which three hundred and eighty four (384) questionnaires were administered on various respondents selected by the use of purposive sampling technique. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics with the aid of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS). As part of the research findings, the researcher was able to establish that, the crimes re- emerged as a result of poor parental upbringing of children in the society. Finally, the research recommends that, government should provide adequate funding and welfare of security personnel should be given preference in order to motivate them to carry their duties appropriately. Constants preaching’s, enlightenments, workshops coupled with full implementation of Shari’ah laws in Bauchi State, Northern Nigeria could serve as absolute measure in curbing the menace of crimes.
