A SURVEY OF DONOR-FUNDED PROJECTS IN KOGI STATE IN THE LAST TEN (10) YEARS
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study explores donor-funded development projects in Kogi State, Nigeria, from 2014 to 2024, with the objective of assessing their scope, implementation, and impact on socio-economic development. Using an exploratory research design, the study relied on secondary data sources including government reports, donor agency publications, academic articles, and project evaluation documents. The findings reveal that donor interventions, particularly in sectors such as health, education, agriculture, and environmental management, have led to tangible improvements in service delivery and infrastructure. However, challenges such as poor project monitoring, limited community involvement, and sustainability issues were also identified. The study recommends strengthening institutional frameworks, enhancing community participation, and improving transparency and accountability mechanisms to ensure more equitable and lasting development outcomes. It concludes that while donor projects have been impactful, a more inclusive and sustainable approach is essential for maximizing their benefits in Kogi State.
