Abstract

This study delves into the intricate realm of designing and developing secure Intranet-Based Computer-Based Testing (CBT) systems for student examinations. In an era marked by technological advancements, security considerations play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of assessments within educational institutions. Acknowledging the imperative of robust testing systems, this research focuses on the intricacies of incorporating security measures into the design and development of Intranet-Based CBT systems for student examinations. The study encompasses an in-depth analysis of the challenges associated with security in the context of student assessments and proposes a comprehensive framework to address these concerns. The framework delineates strategies for intuitive system design, seamless integration with educational intranets, and considerations for heightened security. Emphasis is placed on encryption protocols, access controls, and secure data transmission to fortify the entire testing process. The research also explores the user-centric aspect of security, ensuring that the implemented measures do not compromise the ease of use for students. In examining the case study of Kwara State Polytechnic, this research aims to provide practical insights into the real-world implementation of secure Intranet-Based CBT systems for student examinations. By doing so, it contributes to the broader discourse on educational technology, emphasizing the crucial intersection of security, design, and development in the realm of student assessments. The system provides intranet for three CBT centers located in different areas of Polytechnic by linking them together using HTML, JAVASCRIPT, JQUERY, AJAX, PHP and MYSQL database deployed on Intranet. The application will provide a real-time examination process through immediate grading of exam score and collating it in a central server that will in turn produce the student result for management decision.
