Abstract

The adolescents and teenagers choose their outfits based on conformity or/and differentiation behaviors through distinct linguistically and dress styles. The research was aimed at investigating the influence of socialization agents on choice of clothing exhibited by young adults. The study gathered information from respondents ranging from 28 Level 1 Students, 23 Level 2 Students, 11 Level 3 Students and 9 Level 4 Students of the college, making a total respondent of 71 students, through a well-structured questionnaire. The conceptual framework of variables such as socialization (family, peers, media, and celebrities) and individual characteristics (gender and grade level) were assessed. The data were analyzed both descriptively and Chi-Squared. The results highlight influence of socialization and individual identities in relation to choice of clothing. The results showed a significant impact of socialization on choice of clothing. The study therefore, concluded that students should practice good dress sense irrespective of fashion trend, bearing in mind the consciousness of their individual structures and concealment of their figure faults.
