INFLUENCE OF EMPLOYEES ATTITUDE ON ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE IN FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, MUBI, ADAMAWA STATE

Abstract

This study examined the influence of employees’ attitude on organizational performance in Federal Polytechnic, Mubi. Adamawa State. The problem of the study reveals how negative job attitudes help to predict undesirable behaviours. When employees are dissatisfied with their jobs, lack job involvement, and are low in their commitment to the organization. The study used descriptive survey design, while the academic staff population has a total of 746 representing 30.9% of total population of 2418 and the non-academic staff with the population of 1672 representing 69.1% of total population.  Therefore, the sample size for this study was 345 determine through the use of Yemani formula. Hypotheses was tested using regression analysis, the result revealed that the influence of dispositional on organizational performance is statistically significant and negatively sign (β = -0.572, t =-17.807, p < 0.05). Moreso, the effect of cultural influence on organizational performance is significant and positive (β = 0.754, t = 11.509, p< 0.05). In addition, the effect of work situation influence on organizational performance is positively significant (β = 0.755, t = 16.459, p< 0.05). This means that there is significant and negative relationship between dispositional influence and organizational performance in Federal Polytechnic, Mubi while, there is positive and significant relationship between cultural influence, work situation influence and organizational performance in Federal Polytechnic, Mubi. The study therefore, recommends the management of Federal Polytechnic, Mubi should advice their employees to adopt social and intellectual dispositional attitude because social disposition encourages employees to put more effort towards achieving high organizational performance and intellectual disposition promote causal relationship between management and employee in Federal Polytechnic, Mubi.
