Abstract

Three (3) public primary schools with functional pre-primary department was used in the study. Purposive sampling techniques was used in selecting three (3) public primary schools. The study carried out a comparison of pre-primary attendees and non pre-primary attendees on the academic performance of primary one pupils. The study also compared the academic performances of male and female pupils with pre-primary background and those without pre-primary background. The findings showed a significant differences in the performance of pupils with pre-primary education experience. The performance of pupils with pre-primary education was outstanding. It was also reveled in table two (2) that gender did not influence the performance of pupils.
