Abstract
This study focused on teacher’s collaboration and their job performance in the delivery of Universal Basic Education to children of school-going age in Bayelsa State, the classroom teacher is a key factor in the implementation of the Universal basic education programme. Their job performances need to be enhanced for effective delivery of UBC programme. Despite the academic qualification of teachers, their performance have shown that their capacity need to improved through collaborative teaching. School authorities can use peer coaching, mentoring, peer-study group, professional learning community team teaching as strategies for effective teacher collaboration. The study listed some distinct characteristics of collaborating teachers in schools. The paper highlighted the gains of effective teacher collaboration. These include less teacher isolation, opportunity to learn from each other, more creative lesson plan and delivery and high academic performance of pupils and students.
