Abstract

Entrepreneurship education is an important element of economic growth and sustainable national development. As stated in National Policy on education, entrepreneurship education should equip students with the necessary skills, knowledge, attitudes and competencies that will enable them develop economically and become self-reliance, thereby contributing to the nation’s economic development. The study conceptually examines the effect of entrepreneurship education on economic development in Nigeria. Wealth and a high majority of jobs are created by small businesses started by entrepreneurially minded individuals, many of whom go on to create big businesses. Entrepreneurially education should be regarded as a critical component of our educational curriculum because of the obvious need to generate alternative sources of employment. Review method was used to understand the effect of entrepreneurship education on sustainability and economic development in Nigeria, by reviewing research articles published in Scopus and WOS data base. Entrepreneurship if given the requisite encouragement and boost can solve our employment issue.  The introduction of entrepreneurship education is a welcome development capable of boosting the economy.
